Child & Adolescent Therapy
Growth, Support, Resilience.
Children and adolescents have unique needs when it comes to therapy. At different ages, they pass through distinct developmental phases with specific tasks, capabilities, and limitations. We can co-discover and help evaluate what youth already know about themselves.
Sessions prioritize the use of therapeutic strategies supported by research for addressing specific symptoms and disorders. There are well-established methods for treating a range of challenges, including anxiety, depression, ADHD, and self-harm. Many of the strategies involve cognitive-behavioral and solution-focused methods.
Creativity, humor, and play are critical elements when working with children and adolescents. Regardless of the treatment methods utilized, elements of fun are integrated into the work of getting better.
Caregiver involvement can support the efficacy of treatment for children and adolescents. Parents, guardians, or extended family members can reinforce strategies that the youth is learning in therapy, thereby building more confidence in their ability to support the child’s needs. The level of caregiver involvement varies greatly and is customized depending on the specifics of each child, teen, or young adult.
