Between stimulus and response, there is a space.

In that space is our power…

—Viktor Frankl

Let’s explore how beliefs and behaviors contribute to emotional experience and functioning.

Does it ever feel like you find yourself continuing to work with the same challenges? Maybe you find yourself staring down an endless list of “shoulds”…there’s the type of student you should be, the sort of relationship you should be in, or the kind of parent you should be. As a licensed clinical social worker I engage in conversations with my clients to reduce feelings of anxiety, depression, inadequacy, and dissatisfaction by exploring where these messages come from, and why you’ve been listening to them for so long. Together, we can eliminate false narratives about what you “should” be, and instead learn about who you are.

My style of therapy is directive and collaborative. I don’t just listen, but I actively engage with you—asking questions, offering strategies, and examining unhelpful patterns and tendencies. My goal is that you leave every session feeling greater clarity and more hopeful about lasting change. And if you don’t, I want to work with you to figure out why, and how to get you there.

Common therapeutic conversations include:

  • ADHD

  • Anxiety Disorders

  • Autism Spectrum Disorder

  • Body Dysmorphia

  • Depression

  • Developmental Disabilities

  • Executive Function Challenges

  • Gender

  • Giftedness

  • Grief and Loss

  • Life Transitions

  • Relationships

  • Twice-Exceptional Learners

  • Stress-Management

We must be the guardians of spaces that allow youth to breathe, be curious, and to explore.

Evidence-based treatment for neurodivergent thinkers.

When we shine a light on challenges, we can often see how they are impacted by the broader culture. We come to realize that the problem is a collective issue. Through this lens, my work strives to remove barriers in access to care. Care that is respectful to the dignity and independence of people of all abilities, socio-economic standing, and ethnicity.

I’m down-to-earth and practical, and the work we do will be strength-based and solution-focused. This means we focus on what works, rather than what isn’t working.

Developing a deeper understanding of each individual’s and family’s life is a privilege, and we will work together to find a treatment approach that best fits your needs.

Showing up takes resilience and courage.

I have had the privilege of working within varied levels of educational administration and mental health care—outpatient settings, home-based services, research, day treatment, school-based services, and private practice. This work informs my ability to comprehensively assess and treat youth as well as coordinate care when needs require a team. Values of compassion, integrity, and a willingness to explore additional perspectives are present in each of our conversations. The stance of curiosity in asking questions makes all the difference.

Interests away from my practice include mindfulness, solving math challenges with string on the end of pointy needles, reading, perfecting the chocolate chip cookie, reviewing diverse books for A Kids Book About—Kids Books That Matter. diving into the vortex of Instagram, and researching podcasts.

Education

While attending the University of Washington School of Social Work, I received my Master’s degree in the field of Social Work with a concentration on Children, Youth, and Families. I earned my undergraduate degree in Psychology from Reed College. My clinical interests include supporting individuals and families as they emerge into more meaningful and fulfilling lives.
